Dr. David Huang (Click here for Curriculum Vitae) joined the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Casey Eye Institute in 2010 as a Professor of Ophthalmology. Dr. Huang earned the MD degree from Harvard University and a PhD in Medical Engineering and Medical Physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Click here for thesis). He received ophthalmology residency training at USC and fellowship training in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery at Emory University School of Medicine. Before joining the OHSU faculty, Dr. Huang was on the staff of the Cole Eye Institute of the Cleveland Clinic and later on the faculty of Doheny Eye Institute of University of Southern California.
Dr. Huang has been named one of best doctors in America by his peers (www.bestdoctors.com) and among the top LASIK surgeons by www.trustedlasiksurgeons.com based on research experience and premier patient care.
Dr. Huang is known for his innovations in applying laser and optical technology to eye diseases. He is a co-inventor of optical coherence tomography (OCT), an imaging technology that has been applied to the measurement of eye structures with unprecedented precision. He continues his research in applying OCT to corneal and cataract surgery, glaucoma and retinal diseases.
Research Activities:
Optical coherence tomography and other imaging technologies for the eye
Corneal laser surgery
Imaging-guided surgery
Lamellar corneal surgery
Glaucoma diagnosis
Clinical Interests:
Laser vision correction (LASIK, PRK, PTK, complication management)
Corneal transplantation (lamellar and penetrating keratoplasty, astigmatism management)
Intacs (for low myopia and keratoconus)
Phakic intraocular lens implants (for extreme myopia)
Cataracts surgery (after refractive surgery, with multifocal IOL or toric IOL)
